Embark on a 7-day journey along the Rongai route, one of Kilimanjaro's quieter and more scenic paths. This route offers a gradual ascent through diverse landscapes, culminating in a sunrise summit at Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters). The itinerary includes accommodation, meals, and guide services, ensuring a comfortable and well-supported climb.
Trekking Itinerary
Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro (JRO) Airport - Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), transfer to your hotel in Moshi, and attend a pre-climb briefing with your trekking company. Complete a final gear check and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 1: Nale Meru Gate - Simba Camp
Depart from Moshi and drive for 4-5 hours through coffee plantations and the village of Nale Muru to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. After permits are issued, begin your trek through beautiful wooded scenery and winding trails. Your guide will provide insights into the local flora, fauna, and wildlife. Simba Camp, near the first cave at the edge of the moorland zone, offers spectacular views of the Kenyan plains.

Day 2: Simba Camp - Second Cave Camp
After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, continue along the moorland terrain on a consistently ascending path. You’ll enjoy terrific views of Kibo and get your first glimpse of the ice fields on the Eastern crater rim. The small shrubs of the moorland become thinner as you approach the Second Cave. Temperatures begin to drop.

Day 3: Second Cave Camp - Kikelewa Camp
After breakfast and packing, continue the steady ascent across the moorland towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. This relatively short hike brings you closer to the Eastern ice fields. Pay attention to your body and inform your guide of any signs of altitude sickness.

Day 4: Kikelewa Camp - Mawenzi Tarn
Ascend through alpine desert terrain, enjoying stunning views of Mawenzi Peak. Arrive at Mawenzi Tarn (4,330 meters) after 3-4 hours of trekking and settle in for the night.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn - Kibo Hut
Cross the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, trekking through the vast alpine desert. Arrive at Kibo Hut (4,700 meters) after 5-6 hours of trekking. Rest and prepare for the summit attempt.

Day 6: Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, then Descend to Horombo Hut
Begin your summit attempt around midnight, trekking through steep and challenging terrain, including Gilman's Point (5,681 meters). Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) at sunrise. After celebrating at the summit, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and breakfast, then continue your descent to Horombo Hut (3,720 meters). The total trekking time is 11-15 hours.

Day 7: Horombo Hut - Marangu Gate
Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates. Transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, celebrating your achievement with a well-deserved meal and rest.
